Terms of Use

Effective 23 October 2026 · Version 3.2

These terms cover this website and our games, including playing PAPER GENERALS online and buying the full game. They are written to be read.

Términos de uso en español · Conditions d'utilisation en français

1. Who these terms are with

This website and our games are provided by Second Exit Interactive, an independent game studio in Woodbridge, Virginia, United States. "We", "us" and "our" mean Second Exit Interactive. "You" means you.

2. Accepting these terms

By using this website or playing one of our games, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or the games.

If you got a game from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to your download and to anything you buy, and where they conflict with these terms, the store's terms win.

3. Age

Online play in PAPER GENERALS is for players aged 13 and over. When you first choose online play, where an age law applies the game asks the app store for an age range, and it hides online play on a phone the store marks under 13. The game itself never asks your age; where no age signal is given, you confirm that you are 13 or older when you tap CONTINUE on the online notice. Offline play never asks. A younger player may play the offline game with a parent's or guardian's permission. Where a law requires a parent's or guardian's consent through the app store, we do not enforce these terms against a minor who accepted them without that consent.

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them for you. Where the law of your state asks the app store to get a parent's consent before a young player downloads a game or buys something in it, these terms apply to that player only once that consent has been given, and a parent can withdraw it in the store's family settings.

4. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play our games on devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment. That is a licence, not a sale.

5. What you may not do

  • Copy, sell, rent, sub-licence or redistribute our games or any part of them
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble them, except where the law allows it
  • Remove or alter any notice of ownership
  • Use them for anything unlawful, or to harm, harass or defraud anyone
  • Attack, overload or interfere with this website or our game server

6. The free game and the full game

PAPER GENERALS is free to download. The free game is: the tutorial, one map against Easy bots, and a number of free online matches — at present 10 to start with, then 2 each day. The game shows how many you have left. We may change these numbers.

One purchase opens the full game: every map, every difficulty, and online play without a daily limit. It is a single payment. It is not a subscription, it never renews, there are no refills to buy, and nothing you can buy makes your men stronger. The store shows the price in your own money before you pay.

Three things to know before you buy:

  • Online play needs our server. Section 9 says what we promise about it.
  • The purchase belongs to your store account, not to one phone. On another phone signed in to the same store account, the game finds it; RESTORE in the game asks the store again. One purchase opens online play on up to 5 phones.
  • Deleting your online data never removes your purchase.

Refunds are covered in our refund policy. If the store refunds a purchase, the full game locks again.

To keep the free matches fair, the game counts them per phone, as the privacy policy explains. Please do not try to get round the count.

7. Playing online

Online, you play real people in a public queue or in a room you share with friends by code. If a seat is empty, a computer player — marked as one — may fill it. There are no names and no chat. Please:

  • Don't cheat, use modified copies of the game, or exploit bugs on purpose
  • Don't deliberately throw matches or quit to spoil them for others
  • Don't attack or interfere with our server

If a player breaks these rules, we may suspend or permanently stop that phone from playing online. This never takes away the offline game or what you bought for it. If you think we got it wrong, email us and a person will look again.

Where a parent withdraws consent for a young player in the app store, online play is closed on that phone until the parent allows the game again.

8. The real-game check and versions

To keep online play fair, the game asks the app store to confirm that it is the real game, unchanged. A copy of the game that has been changed is refused online play, paid or not; the way back is the store's own copy, and a purchase stays with the store account. If the store simply cannot answer, we do not hold that against you.

Everyone in an online match must run the same version of the game, so you may need to update before you can play online. The offline game works in every case.

9. The online service can change

We run our own game server and will do our best to keep it up, but we don't promise that online play will always be available, or available forever. We may need to take it down for maintenance, change how it works, or, one day, close it. If we ever plan to close it, we will give at least 90 days' notice on this site and in the game. The offline game, and everything the full game opens in it, is not affected.

10. Recording and streaming

You are welcome to record, stream, and publish video of our games, including on monetised channels. You do not need to ask us. Please don't present the game as your own work or distribute the game files.

11. Our content

Everything on this site and in our games — the code, the art, the words, the names Second Exit Interactive, PAPER GENERALS and JUNKFALL — belongs to us or is used with permission. You may quote short extracts and use our screenshots when writing or talking about our games.

12. Things we don't promise

Our games, our server and this website are provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

13. Limits on what we owe you

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or time. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid for the game, or twenty US dollars.

14. Ending the licence

You can end this licence at any time by deleting the game, and you can delete your online data as the privacy policy explains. We may end it if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections 11 through 16 survive the end of the licence.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our games change. The version and date at the top will change, and we'll make significant changes clear. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it — except where the law of your state asks for a parent's consent to the change, in which case the changed part does not apply to a young player until a parent has given it.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Virginia — except where the mandatory law of your home country, state or province gives you the right to bring them somewhere else. If you are a consumer in Mexico or in Quebec, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of your consumer law or your right to go to your own courts and consumer authority, and the limits in sections 12 and 13 apply only as far as that law allows.
